They were aged 19-59, including: one non-binary respondent. / 10 males, and 16 females. / The questions expiored relationships with family, friends, and self, delving into subjects such as fears, punishments, or what participants would do differently as parents. / Within the work, the fragility of glass symbolises the delicate and sensitive nature of childhood. / Just as glass can be easily shaped and affected by its environment, children are profoundly influenced by their surroundings and social interactions. / The technique of laser engraving on glass embodies the way memories are etched into our minds - sometimes subtly, other times with stark clarity. / A central visual element of the piece is the word "Tiny," written in a custom typeface inspired by playground equipment. / The typeface design and the shape of the piece evoke the nostalgic image of static on old television screens, evoking memories of moments with weak or absent signals, metaphorically representing the (2022) Typography, laser cut on cotton and wood / Mother-daughter relationship and the impact it can have on a woman's self-perception over the years / A questionnaire was created about mother-daughter relationships and was filled out anonymously by women aged between 19-38 years old from different ethnic backgrounds / The aim was looking at words and phrases that repeatedly come up in the answers and show a contrast of feelings we present to the world versus things we keep inside / The main chosen words such as I think, I know and but connote the uncertainty we can have with our own thoughts towards our relationships with our mother / The design of the front of the bags’ letters alludes to the memory of perception fading with time, which is presented by circles, used as the symbol of the self / The back of the bag represents a page of a diary with quotes from the questionnaire / The use of the laser cutting renders the bag, a useful object, useless – the piece discusses
